Summer Ski

Here's a way to take advantage of the hot summer weekend: invite yourself along on a friend's boat for water skiing. The lake temperature yesterday was 77 and it will likely go up another degree or two over the next couple of days. It doesn't get much warmer that, folks, so head down to the Town Beach or out on a boat and enjoy the heat. Snow skiing isn't the only game in town!

The Raft is Calling!

Yesterday was another beautiful, perfect summer day.   One of the few this year, but it was a very good one.  The Charlotte News was in production so we had to spend most of the day in the office, but we snuck out for a half hour of bliss, watching the boats go by and the raft bobbing in the water, calling...

Canoe do this?

This is what we should all be doing this summer - lounging lazily in a canoe in a little cove on the lake. Today looks like the last nice day for a while; let's get outside and enjoy it.

Last one out

There was one boat still on its mooring in the north half of McNeil's Cove today.  It's certainly been warm enough for a late-season sail.  Maybe the owner has weekend plans for it - let's all enjoy the unseasonal weather while we can.

Calming Influence

This picture was taken from my kayak yesterday. It was a perfect evening to be on the lake. The water was flat but there was a light breeze and a few sailboats out. After a hot summer day and an afternoon thunderstorm, it was great to be cooling off in the water, especially since today's unrelenting rain means we had to spend all day inside!
