An Easier Way to Get Sap

According to Edd Merritt, who took and sent in this picture, it's a Charlotte Iron Maple with tap and sap bucket he discovered on Hinesburg Road.  No word on which grade of syrup you get from the finished product.

New Book in Town

Betty Ann Lockhart (right) appeared at the South Burlington Barnes & Noble last Saturday to talk about her new book called "Maple Sugarin' in Vermont: A Sweet History."  B&N probably has a few copies of the book but you should get it at the Charlotte-owned bookstore, Flying Pig Books in Shelburne where it's offered at a 10% discount ($17.99).

Everything's New at the Old Brick Store

The Old Brick has come back to life!  Thanks to Charlotte News Editor Melissa Eyre for these pics of the newly-renovated and newly-reopened store.  Have you been in yet?  It looks very different, yet familiar.

CVU Ices the Trophy

Edd Merritt went to the championship game last weekend when CVU beat Essex for the state hockey title. He brought along his camera and sent in these shots.  From the top: Brady DeHayes gets his championship medal with Chris McGinnis behind him in line, Tim Reichart hits the winning goal for CVU, and the captains lift the trophey.
