Here's a pic of the coyote that has moved into the woods near the ferry. Has anyone else seen him/her? There's a litter of pups that warble at night. This one is big and health-looking - but should we be concerned about our cats and small dogs? You can read this
coyote factsheet from Vermont Fish & Wildlife but it doesn't mention household pets.

Yes, he/she has been spotted frequently hunting mice or ?? in the field by Andrew & Kit's house on Converse Bay Road. And yes, neighbors' cats are missing, so I would be concerned.
Cat gone also at 1501 Ferry Road ...but perhaps this is not the greater evil. Some folks argue that city dwellers would be more inclined to populate the countryside if it were not for their considerable fear of large wild animals. Maintaining and protecting robust populations of all type large animal species may be a wise development control tool.
Sorry to hear about the cat - but you make an interesting point re development!
And now, this morning, Jane Michaud stops-in to report that her accomplished hunter/cat of many years disappeared in the last few days. Then, Ed Stone calls and says that it is not a coyote, but a bobcat ...and that David Miskell has video of it with a cat hanging from between its jaws.
