East Charlotte Hosts Biker Rally

Carrie Spear, owner of Spear's Corner Store and prime creator of the Tractor Parade, held the first bike rally last weekend.  There was a good turnout of local kids, who decorated their bikes and themselves and competed in handling courses.  Helmets and leather not required.

New CCS interim principal

Here's what parents learned on Wednesday via email:
On behalf of the school board and myself, I am pleased to announce that Sandra Jump has been hired as the Interim Principal for the Charlotte Central School. Most recently, Sandy has served as principal of the WaitsRiver School in Waits River Vt. She will begin in early July. We are thrilled to welcome Sandy to our community. Elaine Pinckney, Superintendent

Canoe do this?

This is what we should all be doing this summer - lounging lazily in a canoe in a little cove on the lake. Today looks like the last nice day for a while; let's get outside and enjoy it.

The News team gathers

The Charlotte News board of directors hosted the News staff last night for a cookout.  The weather held so we could be outside.  It was a fun evening and we all enjoyed the relaxed time to interact and, in some cases, meet one another.  Thanks, board!

It's Open!

Hurry, before the rain comes!  Uncle Sam's creemee stand is finally open.  There were a lot of cars there this afternoon, full of people kicking off the summer with a first creemee.  The baby size is still only $1.00.

Here's a shot from the dessert reception for departing CCS principal Monica Smith, held yesterday evening.  Monica's husband, daughter and son-in-law were there along with many teachers and families.  There were toasts, tributes and some wonderful music, courtesy of Tony Pietricola and Allison Ledoux.  And cake, of course!
